The tool-box OT

Anne B Sinha

As an occupational therapist, I know and acknowledge how challenging it can be to find the right information and approach to best help a client diagnosed with ARFID. ARFID is a very broad diagnosis as to what can be impacting feeding and I have an individualized approach built on 18 years of experience working with ARFID clients and 25 years as an occupational therapist. For youth, my service time is often a combination of services provided to the parents and to the client.

My first session with an ARFID client includes an eval, a break and a return for an opportunity to eat something. Ideally, I would like to do a follow-up session within days to a week to reinforce feeding skills/ address client needs. I find that if I do intensive treatments early on, I am able to have a stronger impact and a better plan for the client and family. Working with clients with ARFID is my passion, and I care a lot about having the best possible connection and treatment plan.
